What annoys me in this product: is mapped here a DTS DVD with "compressed DTS sound (5.1 surround) and is calculated as (DVD-AUDIO) with the addition (SACD) This is referred to simply wrong and led to a. bad buy. The term DTS Surround is indeed big enough recognizable in the image on this page. But many can use it just do anything. I am aware of this DTS-DVD is not concrete, but have my consistently negative experiences with the sound of other DTS DVDs (eg Abraxas by Santana or Night Calls by Joe Cocker). Here go the reviews in terms of sound judgments and references to the formats simply messed up.
The tonal reviews on the different audio audio formats (CD, SACD in stereo or multi-channel recording, DVD-Audio and DTS-DVD, HDCD, etc.) that have messed up badly. Examples:
For SACD's reviews are submitted via the audio CD mainly. For multichannel SACD is often pointed out, "I evaluate only the stereo track". That's when a SACD still OK but what to look for when SACD phonetic assessment of audio CD? Nothing !!!! It's the same with the other formats. My wish would be: The evaluation of the music of the artist can be displayed on the pages of all recorded music formats. But even if the sound of a recorded music format is reviewed, then please only on the corresponding product page. It would be helpful here, if it is then also specify whether it is a stereo or multi-channel recording. This difference is, unfortunately, all too often not given.
The causes? Many consumers do not know the differences between the various sound format. Therefore, it is also unknown to many, what hardware is necessary to play.
Basically, I'm a fan of multi-channel recordings. But if, then right. The DTS DVD's verschiedner artist, as far as I know, sound dull compared to CD, uncompressed DVD-Audio or SACD even mastered and are quiet. And: Except stills and credits, etc. you will not find other useful information; what actually should any audio-DVD's or DVD AUDIO know anyway if you go to a corresponding page. Can play this DTS DVDs on all DVD and Blu-ray players. So: A tonal value is at most DTS DVD over other formats not exist: often quite the opposite.
There This Clapton album but as a hybrid SACD (multi-channel, ie 5.1. Languages, 24-bit / 192 kHz sampling rate up) and is also available on Amazon
Audio CD (November 16, 2004)
Discs / Media: 1
Format: Hybrid SACD
Label: Polydor (Universal)
ASIN: B00064X282
I own the hybrid SACD and can only confirm that the sound is great (stereo and multichannel). But the tonal value undergoes only the owner of good CD / SACD Players (here then but "only" the stereo track) or universal players that can play multichannel audio formats, including all.. I own a good Blu-ray universal player which plays virtually all formats.
The best for last. The hybrid SACD currently costs (17.07.2012) on Amazon new 19.99 EUR. About marketplace new 11.19 EUR 10.49 EUR or used. The hybrid SACD can be played on any CD player (but then, of course, only the CD audio track in stereo). The DTS DVD here is used cost 33.85 EUR. I think now everybody can make a judgment, which format is the right purchase according to your own technical possibilities (Player). Or?
