CONNECTIVITY:
Due to modern listening habits lack the NAD Viso 3 (as with most other competitors in this class), a special phono input. If, like me still has a nice collection of old vinyl discs and also have a nice and sounded strong Thorens turntables, one has no other choice to dock as a separate phono preamp via one of the AUX ports. This works perfectly and for less than 50 euros you get in stores solid devices that allow the beloved vinyl sound.
Radio reception (via antenna or cable) is really unique good at Viso 3. Very precise tuning and a bold sound escape my old ALR Nummer2 boxes that I almost did not recognize.
As befits a CD player drives the rather solid disc tray quickly in and out, the music will start after about 15 seconds (vs.. DVD or Blu-ray is still quite fast).
(By the way: on the back of the NAD can be found on closer inspection an inscription. Only boxes with at least 8 ohms impedance Connect As my boxes, like most speakers located currently on the market but have an impedance of 4 ohms, I was only skeptical and have a precaution demanded the merchants and even with NAD Germany. It has been assured that never before had occurred during operation into 4 Ohm speakers problems. However, if the amplifier again be overloaded by low-boxing, there is obviously a protection circuit the amplifier just shuts off and thereby preserves speakers and amplifier from damage.)
Next tested connections: tape deck to the AUX connector: no problem and really excellent sound. Computer plug to AUX: also unproblematic. MP3 player via the USB input on the front page: but very good sound, the Viso3 recognizes succession only all the pieces on the player, a navigation does not seem to be possible.
The included iPod dock IPD 2 I have not tested that do not use Apple products. Which has a value between 100 and 150 Euro in retail! and was easily supplied so.
THE SOUND:
is balanced, very precise dissolved, deep and accurate bass, while not cooling-analytically, so is perfect for long listening sessions. Compared to my old combination of Onkyo player and Arcam Alpha 6 amplifiers in any case deterioration, I find the sound even more clear and precise, and look forward, more most out of my old boxes so.
Operation:
Is simple and essentially intuitive, except for the remote control, so I put it on the included CD manual for help. When one has understood the changing over between the individual components, which is also good. As already criticized by other reviewers: the piano lacquer surface would really not have to be, because you can see every fingerprint. Others do better.
THE LOOK:
For my taste, which is very well done: not so purist as many hi-fi components, but not too much frills, modern with beautiful accents (silver edged small function buttons, which are thus much better to see) and a thick, solid and smooth volume control. Everything makes a valent impression processed. Fine!
MY CONCLUSION:
Very satisfied! Since hearing old CD's, radio, vinyl or MP3 times makes again a real pleasure.
The excellent sound, the valent-modern appearance and the first-class processing for just 499 Euro: an audiophile bargain!
