Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM (filter thread 72mm) for Canon lens mount (Electronics)

Customer Review

It's big, it's heavy and has not even a 2-fold zoom range. Why buy a lens like this?
Let's start ...

Feel:

It fässt simply great. From the build quality, the Sigma before any L or Nikkor need to hide, it is made of metal and give accordingly difficult. On the 60D, it feels the weight distribution still very pleasant. The zoom ring runs silky smooth, just like the slightly wider focusing ring, which can be rotated about 120 degrees and does not rotate during AF. It is supplied in a padded quiver with hood made of plastic.
Furthermore, and I very much welcome the lens is focused internally and changes its length not even when zooming.

Image Quality:

Madness! A continuous aperture of 1.8 and a picture quality hitherto unheard of. Even the onsite Sigma 35mm 1.4 forms not from sharply and as a (very good) fixed focal length. Throughout the zoom range the Sigma is already at full aperture blades sharp, vignetting stops is very limited, as the distortion. CA's I could see occasionally at maximum aperture, but the hide discreetly in the background (at 100% view could possibly disturb;)). Overall, the image quality and color reproduction is on a class level!
According to various test reports, the Sigma 18-35 is currently the strongest APS-C lens and does not even have before Canon 24-70L II hide.

Focus:

Yes, Sigma and the autofocus.
Sure there are here again lenses fall series scattering victim and have a front / back focus, but mine is not among them! The autofocus is pleasantly quiet, fast enough (there are definitely faster lenses, but for the price it is still excellent) and very fail. Some AL shooting evening the focus was sitting precisely about 80%, and that should not be seen as a reference. In normal lighting conditions I have as yet no defocus found that was not because of me.

Conclusion:

Overall, Sigma has brought a hammer lens on the market and at a very good price! I speak a strong buy recommendation, for people who can be content with the small focal length range and no objective change afraid for you with the panel 1.8 many opportunities for individual creative art work and exceptional image quality! In addition, there is no image stabilization.

Have just some photos incl. 100% cut uploaded.
At 18mm, the picture quality is the way in Aperture 2 sharpest, at 35mm it is razor sharp at f 4.
