Background: Since my old analog system Revox (built in 1986) is now barely used, was the idea to flog or to transfer into the digital age either. For sound and design standard is mE still among the front runners.

Acquisition reason: Instead of expensive ready-made systems with closed software I would rather use an open Lian Nux distribution. Since I always have an old Raspi PI. Model B had lying around, it offered to it to try it. Just the prices of> EUR 50 for DAC boards as Hifiberry or Wolfson deterred me. Through a bit of searching I ended up at Hifi DAC Shield. Because of the already existing positive reviews I have the board then ordered.

That they have to solder 8 pins, should be clear. Is indeed an extra in the item description. This work is the way to make even with Hifiberry and consorts.

Well, and the soldering is already the largest expense. Download After appropriate distribution (eg Volumio) and install it on the SD card. Make a few basic settings. Finished and running.
