The stand is in effect a massive curved iron rod with 2 rubber plug at the ends. However, I think that's a very good solution. Looks good, is relatively stable and will probably never go broke. As already noted in other recessions, is my only gripe that the part has no rubber studs or the like and therefore is quite slippery. The bit annoying if you frequently take the laptop on it and down. Property me at the hardware store some "Rubber press seals 8mm" bought and pushed about, now it's optimal.
