Confucius was a Chinese sage who lived from 551 BC. BC to 479 BC. AD "Analects" of Confucius is the book "beacon" of Confucianism as a doctrine. Today the researchers do not know if the interviews were written by the hand of the master, by his disciples or by-four centuries later- scholars of the Han period.
Like the "Tao Te Ching" vis-à-vis the Taoism, it is interesting to get a foot in Confucianism via "The Analects".
For those who want deeper into the subject, I recommend the books on "The history of Chinese thought" Anne Cheng who school on the subject.
