I just got my new burner. Direct connected and a ---- M-Disc Blu ray 25GB --- described with exactly 22 GB of data. I've used Nero. The whole took a bit long and indeed exactly 1 hour and 40 minutes at a burn rate of 2 X (higher can not be selected because the burner ---- for the M-Disc Blu ray 25GB ---- only for 2 designed x burning speed is), see compatibility list on the M-Disc side). Then an M-Disc DVD with 4GB described data. The rate was 4 x here. The whole has about 15 minutes. Lasted. Both media whether M-Disc DVD 4.7 GB. or M-Disc Blu ray 25GB. are ---- ---- IMPECCABLE identified and described by the torch !!! Of course, I then tested both disc on other drives. They are recognized properly !!! And you need --- NO --- Extra burner can specifically describe the M-Disc DVD. The burner even supports BDXL Blu rays means it can describe these media up to 128GB, provided that these are times available or affordable. I am using Windows 7 and have ---- ---- NOT the bundled software DVD that came with the burner used! PS The burner is a bit clunky but solidly built, I had his predecessors with whom I was very pleased. Vertical installation is also possible. From me a strong buy recommendation !!!
