1. The DSP Cinema mode is unique to Yamaha. Since I already knew this from my previous Yamaha receivers, I know what, these sound field simulations.
Large halls or small Program Screens are simulated here by various reverb and phase settings. A great feature, but what I use only in movies. The default settings for music I do not need, and pure stereo is me as the most.
2. In contrast to the smaller model RX 375, the RX 475 offers an HDMI pass-through mode, the signal of a connected eg satellite receiver to the TV in standby mode by dragging. Because of several false information that were me, given to the question whether the RX 375 this pass-through mode support, I find it important to mention this here.
3. The unit has an automatic lipsync. In my Phillips Cineon it is sometimes better to turn this lyp sync and to put the TV in the Game mode. Here are no extra from the TV screen made calculations and it were rendered pure, without delay, etc.
Even with music videos, the image is true to the sound. It's really different, sometimes it is perfectly turned with Auto Lip Sync and the beat of the drummer fits 100% to hear sound. Do not know why I sometimes have to turn off the lip sync. Regardless, it's a really useful tool.
4. In addition, I find it useful to specify the starting point, from which the frequency Subwoover starts working.
and the scene buttons can quick different settings Last but very, very practical.
Calibration of the speakers with the supplied microphone to work, although you then still can readjust and usually has.
Volume of each speaker, possibly even the EQ.
For the most part it is not enough to adjust the sound again, the film blends are not all the same.
TV programs are often sent only in Dolby 2.0. If one wants a dummy is 5.1 simulated, you can play as stereo in Pro Logic II. I prefer but as the "Straight" mode before, simply reproduces the signal as stereo.
The Internet features are working properly. I am using the Netgear Adapter Netgear Universal Dual Band Wireless Internet Adapter for TV + Blu-Rayder ideally suitable for the device. Internet radio, playback via Airplay from my iPhone or the MacBook function optimally.
A firmware update via the network worked well. I am very excited!
The only thing I did not manage to be to set up the remote control of the device on my TV. After a few tries, I broke it. Does not have to be.
5 stars for this beautiful and good sound generating device! I speak from a buy rating.
Edit after three days - May 19
irregular picture and sound skips per film 1 to 3 times, about 2 to 4 seconds - looks like a problem from HDMI - can anyone help ???
Edit MAY 22:
The following has helped:
I have the wireless adapter further put off the AVR and I bought better shielded cables Oehlbach Magic High Speed HDMI cable 0.75m, white (92420) - I suppose that the network has disturbed and that my cheap HDMI cable not were good enough shielded.
Now it fits!
