Class problem? Controller defective!

Have since September 2008 now now 3 of these panels, the first on Amazon bought. Until today, I was very happy with the product: Acceptable fast, smart, aluminum body makes high-quality impression. The plates run at a super Synology NAS 107+ and can be informed of this even in standby mode: Class!

Unfortunately, now works the first no longer. As already described several times, the usual error picture: No more reaction at power LED remains off, but power supply OK. When you open the case and destroyed the paper seal case (including sit the screws), you lose the guarantee. Not opening the machine, you lose the data because you can not get to the plate ... great sausage.

Tip: The sticker on the camera you get a hairdryer from clean (carefully and with a lot of patience) and could afterwards again stick clean on the screw ...

In my case a Western Digital WD10EAVS tinkers (Green Caviar), 8 MB cache, and as might be expected, the drive is properly and works properly on an external SATA Controller ... data saved.

The white mass, which some people see power input side of the Trekstor board of two capacitors, but seems to be not a problem but an adhesive which is to protect the components from vibration.

So, drive in a new housing (no more Trekstor) and all is well again.

However, if 50 indicate at the time of 222 reviews submitted at Amazon a total failure, ie give more than 20% of the reviews the worst rating, then this product has great quality problem ... and it seems not used SATA disk but the used of Trekstor to be controller board. Sorry, no recommendation!
