However, since I wanted to use a eigenens network password (via devolo cockpit V4.2.3) I was on the verge of this banana product (firmware 1.0.0 ...) to be returned because:
- It did not materialize PowerLAN connection to the same outlets where infected previously 1200+ Adapter
- Completely erratic no connection to existing adapters 1200+ state (red flashing LED) came
- Despite an identical network password (copy & paste) two separate PowerLAN networks were set up, each with 2 adapters
=> To spare other gray hairs: trying times a * shorter * Network Password - mine was 64 digits (which is the maximum, alphanumeric with special characters) - I suspect v1.0.0 cuts the paste just a few characters from and worked with 16 characters there at the end.
The printed "manual" a joke and the PDF manual is unfortunately incomplete, it failed me, for example, information on the maximum password length (minimum length is specified with 8) and permitted characters - the generated passwords are 16 characters in alphabetical ...
Now that it finally runs:
+ The WiFi connection is very good and stable (at 5GHz 802.11n)
+ Intuitive web interface (HTTP-only, all passwords are shown non-masked)
+ Quite nice: Guest access (but no separate settings for used tape)
Bugs / annoyances in firmware 1.0.0:
- Automatic firmware updates can not disable: Although there is a switch, but the attitude we are not saved on pressing OK => resolved with firmware 1.0.2
- Misleading error message - "Search and Update Now to Firmware" leads to the message "When firmware update An error occurred Please try again at a later date.." => Likely there is simply no update => resolved with firmware 1.0.2
- Display Error: network settings, in disabling the DHCP client is missing the entry field labels for subnet mask, default gateway and DNS address
- Displayed in the web interface dLAN speeds are partly implausible (an adapter 0 Mbps)
If the product is still something matures and in continuous operation remains stable the purchase was worth.
Update to firmware 1.0.2:
- The automatic firmware update can now be hidden (the automatic had incidentally v1.0.2 not found)
- A misleading error message in case of non-existence of a new firmware has been eliminated
