Now the optical quality. Wide open at 0.95 useable but not what I would call sharp. Dreamy is how it looks. If you're looking for a soft focus shallow depth of field image. Stopping it down even by one stop it sharpens noticeably. By 2.8 it is the sharpest lens for the M4 / 3 system bar none. Even sharper than Oly's own 75mm 1.8. Although wide open the Oly has a clear advantage. The Nokton has very nice bokeh, the background blurs nicely without distracting elements to take your focus away from your main subject.
Focus is not hard as some might suggest. Use MF Assist by magnifying you focus area and it's a breeze. If you've ever tried to focus the classic OM 50mm 1.4, this case did in same category. Even better if you have a m4 / 3 with focus peaking, but even without it I had no problem getting the focus everytime. Mind you, it will take practice to get focus if you're tracking a fast moving subject.
At f2.8, I think it's sharpest setting, the micro-contrast is great, and the colors saturate very nicely. Clearly well machined optics and a transmission curve is very high indeed, and flat. I would be careful if you like to boost your camera's saturation Usually as you might over-saturate red Easily with this lens.
