Not just the lyrics, but also the music at that time looked like an explosive device. When Rage Against The Machine in their youthful exuberance as different styles of music like Hard and Alternative Rock, Funk, Metal and Hip-Hop crossed, they met clearly the ravages of time. There was also an entire chunk reflected anger against all surrounding system. Yes, the music was intense - and grooving as hell by the way. Only the rhythm section of Brad Wilk (drums) and Tim Commerford (bass) is an actor. These obsolete Tom Morella sounds from his guitar that had never heard before (no samples, keyboards or synthesizers!). The foundation for rapper de la Rocha was so placed. This screamed out not just slogans, but his words were also chosen intelligent in spite of aggression for the most part.
On the debut really grabbed a wheel to another, the band brought out a whole bundle songs that were quickly become classics. Bombtrack, Take the power back, wake up, Killing in the name, Freedom, Know your enemy or Bullet in the head rays still. A remastering would it also not needed because the sound of the original enjoys under HiFi fetishists today an excellent reputation. And in fact (or rather fortunately), this new edition is not really different from the first publication.
To review the Edition was present with two audio CDs and a short DVD. CD1 contains the well-known studio album with three live tracks as bonus. These are nice, but a real highlight is the second disc. For the first time you get to hear the original demo of the band, with which one went then peddled at record companies. Of the twelve songs to be heard made it eight on the debut - also relatively unchanged. Most to Killing differs in the name, which has been streamlined positive in the studio. Darkness of Greed took you later for the soundtrack of the movie The Crow on new and mindset's a threat made it the basic riff in the song Wake up. Very cool is that casual driving Autologic.
The DVD contains the official video clip for Killing in the Name, Bombtrack and Freedom. In addition, three live recordings. Nice but not really spectacular. The packaging in oversized cardboard digipack looks chic, but is also somewhat impractical. In summary, a very beautiful thing. Those who want to spend a little more money, you can pick up the large package containing the album in addition as LP and two more DVDs with two concerts (2010 and 1991) and all the video clips the band and yet another live recording.
