"Sit And Wonder" is a successful opener with a dark, entrücktem Groove, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Church. "Love Is Noise" is a nice guitar pop number and as radio-friendly single release is the ideal hanger to make the public aware - but overall not typical on this album. "Rather Be", "Judas" and "I See Houses" are slightly pearly clouds travel, and "Appalachian Springs" is a beautiful, seven and a half minute ballad of paramount for me culmination of the album.
Unfortunately, however, there are hangers, so first of all the strange "Noise Epic", the very arbitrary "Valium Skies" or even the completely stress-free "Columbo". Such songs are once again an indication that an album may sometimes be too long.
With one exception, all the songs are between five and eight and a half minutes. Britpop anthems like "Bittersweet Symphony", "Sonnet", "Song For Lovers" or "Lucky Man" One looks in vain; for we find relaxing, sometimes almost psychedelic and mostly harmonious soundscapes in mid-tempo, which - leaving "Good Vibrations" - despite some sagging.
