This is certainly one of the albums to remember in spring 2001. Here a ride in Africa, where the young reader poura follow a frog, tired swallow flies at breakfast, pacoure the country to the discovery other treats. Leap leap, she discovers all kinds of animals, ants lion, she climbs mountains, through the rain, and asks each what he eats. At the end of his adventure, it will have the surprise to discover its predator, the odd crocodile.
With a simple, repetitive text, interspersed moments of rest and reflection, Francine Vidal, storyteller, takes us into an enchanted world, made of delicacy and friendship. And we even despair that the tale is so quickly over. The illustrations Elodie Nouhen, paper collages (brightened son of iron and paintings) where small details and wide ocher colored surfaces are juxtaposed, add to the feeling of fullness during playback. Here, the illustration happily surrounds text, light burst magically appear and animals, near and far, as out of the vegetation. By subtle framing, the reader is closely following the events of this mocking and naive frog, yet very tender. A success.
