255WT:
positive:
- Unique, as colorful and wide street view with relatively large and easy to read street names. Even with large map sections a unique road network with numbers and places is specified, so that one be found on the map cope.
- Changes in the position and direction of movement (pedestrian) be registered quickly and at minimum speed
- The data input via the display can be a slide switch lock (useful for pedestrian navigation).
- Battery life with 4 hours acceptable. When switching off is really off without external power supply (power consumption), after switching on again, however, only then rebooted. By finding the satellite no significant difference in time compared to 2110max. However, it must be restarted each time the navigation.
- There is a separate directional arrow and a down the street. The name of the street is on the einzubiegen next is indicated.
- After switching to a kind of cockpit view there is more information (see below).
- Suction cup with a ball-head.
What is missing:
- There is no proper manual, not online, just a short booklet in nonsensical many languages.
- In the navigation screen only the arrival time and the current speed are displayed on the remaining distance or time can not be switched. The remaining route's cockpit mode.
- Additional information like remaining time, remaining distance, speed warning, signs on highways, lane assistant does not exist or only after switching to other modes.
- The menu navigation and 'diversity is better at Navigon. The list of recent destinations can only be completely deleted.
- POIs are mentioned only in a list, not shown on the plan.
2110max:
positive:
- 3D representation with indication of area (city, country). This looks fancier than the 255WT; if's what brings, is a matter of taste.
- The power switch on in standby. This can continue seamlessly after restarting.
- Directional arrow signs display on highways, lane assistant, remaining distance and arrival time or remaining, current and next street name, altitude, geographic direction of travel, speed warning will be displayed in the navigation screen.
- From the image can drag a rectangle without a cutout image shift and - / + - keys zoom in on.
What is missing.
- There appear significantly less street names. Pedestrians must there be sought more. For large map sections only the planned route is shown without places and other streets. Gray and very small street names on a gray background are difficult to read, the driver did not.
- It can only be switched to standby. Even without using the battery is therefore relatively quickly.
- As a pedestrian, the device is actually useless. Simply runs off, (a z. T. to low) is indeed displayed speed, but the location on the display is not changed. Only a losrennen brings movement. But that does not last long; is certainly not remained when standing times. Is not changed by the change in the pedestrian mode nothing (2 units tested).
- The suction mount is a bit bulky and may in the horizontal axis while driving actually not be adjusted.
- The connection cable goes away on the bottom down. This is a relatively large space is required, the cable must be quasi bent (no angle plug) and pulls powerfully to the jack (life?).
- The TMC reception sensitivity could be better.
Conclusion:
Who needs a pure car navigation and various additional information in the navigation screen would, is well served by the 2110max. Who wants to be guided as pedestrians moreover, should choose the 255WT.
Point deduction due to lack of operating instructions, no lane guidance, no speed Warner, lower menu variety or setting options.
