After the appearance of a Steven Wilson album every time the same scenario plays at the reviews at this point, amazingly, from: The pieces are broken down into their component parts, dissected almost forensic medicine, and again any outrageous plagiarism theories are tried. In music, it's just like in nature: There will be continually reproduction processes instead, which means it will be like new combine in the natural existing components (analogous to genetic material). The fact that some reviewers have nothing better to do than to seek constantly new alleged "quotations" in the Wilson pieces and supposedly also to discover, instead of letting the music act as a whole in itself, to me is truly a mystery. Above all, it involves a procedure that is limited almost exclusively to Steven Wilson publications, although other artists use a similar approach and do not see themselves confronted with these allegations. Of course I want to stay not quite uncritically at this point: I believe that Wilson was going a bit over-ambitious in this concept album. It is in the nature of things that there is a certain line of approach in concept albums in general, from which one can deviate difficult, what the possibilities in the musical spectrum from the outset been concentrated. If Wilson on the other hand, is still trying to be his great musicians do justice by, tailoring them to one or the other passage in which they can shine on the body, the result of falls of course not quite so spontaneous and consistent, as one would wish. Thus it forces the music next to the conceptual simultaneously also in a second corset, which is why in music too many compromises must be made. That in the end but still, compared to other outputs in the market, such quality music comes out, then is more than amazing.
