Among other things, my eyes fell on this device: Musical Fidelity V90-DAC. After reading several reviews and reviews I've ordered (Amazon Prime worked brilliantly) and the next day received well. After unpacking and connecting then could the same be held the first hearing test.
Hearing test:
I have a CD player of 2000 .-- DM category to which the signal is also digitally addition to normal exits through optical and coaxial output. The CD - I player connected via RCA cables directly to the amplifier and the optical output of the V90. From here then RCA cable again so that I could switch time loss between the different signal sources to the amplifier. At first I have heard with my 60 year old ears no difference. Only after repeated switching I had the (admittedly highly subjective) impression that the V90 is a tiny bit looser and breezy airs, so even to my CD player has the better (newer) converter.
The differences were indeed marginal, but they convinced me.
Inputs:
3 inputs, optical, coaxial and USB, the device and which are with me, all occupied. The inputs are switched with a tiny switch on the front of the device. The switch makes a high impression, even if he is advised relatively small.
Housing:
Mausgrau made of sheet steel. Not pretty but rare. For me it is as art visual object on the shelf and fits not very harmoniously into the plant.
Power supply:
Relatively small power supply. When Musical Fidelity V-DAC II yes a bigger power supply seems again to work wonders. Whether this is so I have not tried the V90 in need of a larger power supply. Get it in the case of late filing but here.
Packing:
High-quality, safe and tidy.
Conclusion II:
From my perspective, I would recommend this device. For the price can be sure to find time not sonically equivalent device. By design, can something be done.
