Kettler treadmill Axos Runner / Sprinter (equipment)

Customer Review

The structure of the treadmill (there is incidentally manufactured nameplate in China) is not really complicated, the quality is very appealing and the first operation after a few running sessions satisfactory.
What I do not like?
1. The technical documentation could be improved:
... Because the two instructions for 95% contain languages that do not interest me. The "Rum-looking" annoying.
... Because of "maintenance" and "maintenance" is mentioned, but the "how" is in my opinion always described only quite imprecise. Since many questions remain open for me.
2. The display is very small and dark. There's only a lot of light, otherwise you see nothing.
3. The treadmill creaks permanently. This is just as loud as the engine noise. Reason is the three-part engine cover (see below).
4. When bringing down the tread falls gently to the ground first, but the last 10 cm crashing tread largely unabated on the ground. This is suboptimal. Every blow harms potentially electronics. Since you can keep his foot under the descending tread and the whole buffering only the last 10 centimeters.
5. Make the programmed 6 programs for an experienced runner little sense. Since you can only run better "manually", or take the opportunity to create your own program.

A little tip for lubricating:
Not described in the instructions the treadmill on the top stand out and lubricate - here you break only the fingers and leiert the band. Is better (superscript, ribbon inside !!) the treadmill from the rear to lubricate. Here you have fairly free access and does not have the fingers bend. With the long Spenderrörchen going through frame quite well, you just have to make sure that the drops adhere to the inside of band and not down drops. Run between, from time to time in idle (and folded down) to distribute the oil (and do not touch or further lubricate the belt when running as dangerous !!)

A little tip for creaking of the engine cover:
Since I did not want to unscrew after 2 weeks, the treadmill, I have so helped me that I stuck duct tape over the joints of the outer to the inner engine cover. Here it was enough, the tape on the back (connector side) to attach. Is not it beautiful, but it helps. It would be better, however, apply eg silicone sealant between the two covers. But for the engine cover must be unscrewed and disassembled. That I can save for later.
After ~ 100km mileage: The creaking was not rid of the tape as described above. Now I have the cover unscrewed (2 screws solved on the sides) and the cover unscrewed (there are 3 parts). Between the middle and the two outer parts of the cover I've ever stuck a strip thicker adhesive tape to the surface, where the parts lie on one another and the whole bolted together again. The cover in itself creaks no longer so. Then I large (1 cm diameter) washers cut from rubber and inserted to the fixing screws of the cover so that the cover screwing together on both sides shall be taken by such a rubber disc. Finally, I glued between the engine cover and the two black bars stand alongside the tread a small strip thicker tape. And exactly where the engine cover and the stand rails touch under pressure. In retrospect, I suspect that this was the Hauptknarzquelle. Anyway, now that is gone and the creaking treadmill hums quietly beautiful. So I ask myself, why not make it so at the factory. The creaking has rid cost me about 2 hours. Something called "outsource" product development.

Again a conclusion after a few weeks of operation:
The treadmill running in everyday use really good and on track. It is stable and even the height adjustment works well. The small shortcomings could be simplest resolved partly by the manufacturer. But that's probably the "price" that I as a customer "pay" for that products are globally conceived and produced. As well as improvements to market are not easy to implement.
Would I buy the walking belt? Currently yes, because the market for the price currently offers nothing better, as far as I could tell. Nevertheless, there remains the connotation of the unfinished. Will not interfere with each, but can.

Update after 10 months of operation:
Since I run a run book, I can report as follows.
spilled distance - 327 km
elapsed time - 39 hours
Number of runs - 55
This means I use the treadmill in the rain, darkness, or if it must go fast times just so in between. The treadmill is still going fine. Meanwhile, I have touched me better range of lubricating and learned. If under the unused, superscript treadmill small silicone puddles occur, I probably too much dope. The other way around the running mat is at one hour by 9.5 km / h quite warm. The motivated again to lubricate.
Conclusion: Definitely not a bad buy, but Kettler lets the user when it comes to lubricate very alone. Oh, the creaking of the engine cover is after the tape action (see above) did not come back.

Addendum after 12 months of operation:
The treadmill is now behind after 500km mileage when starting twice are without an error message. The Kettler Support suspects that the engine controller must be replaced. The technician comes from a sub-contractor, Kettler has outsourced here. That is, the potential Spare parts must be sent first there. That's a little lengthy and in the meantime, I should not use the treadmill, Kettler says. The treadmill is now for almost 3 weeks. I'm curious times, when the technician comes and how much he means by this technique. let's see.
Repairs will be carried: The technician was there and the complete motor control board and the speed sensor replaced at no charge. The treadmill is purring again like the first day.

After 14 months of operation (all fine):
Tape is running after the repair as the first day and has now after 82 hours of operation 715 km on the clock. Once I had been fine-tune the tape; no problem.
Greasing I am doing now as previously described with the paintbrush in an upright position. I use a long, angled 4cm wide but flat brush. The metal collar I had to flatten slightly with a hammer so that the brush fits through the lateral gap to get to the tape back. In the brush dribble a few drops of silicone oil and beautiful coat the tape from behind. Works great.
It's a nice treadmill. I have just upgraded from 3 to 4 stars.

Update after 25 months (March 2015):
Meanwhile, the band more than 900 km on the clock (I use it only in bad weather and darkness). There were no major problems, except that it always starts again at the start and then must be restarted (see also repair above). I have probably found out why. The profane cause seems to be the red Notstecker. If the minimal slipping when starting, the band goes from what is actually good. Because the connector has some "game", but the slips happy times in a "stronger position" when the band starts working. what can you do about it? Quite simply, no longer slips easily the plug when putting out wobbling, that he thereby already finds the best position, and during start-up. Since I'm doing this so, the tape no longer sets out at the start. Presumably Kettler could have give the replacement of the control board. Better it would have been to use a higher quality Notausstecker and socket. But that's the downside of contract manufacturing in the Far East.
