Finally there it: A precise gaming mouse without wires. For this alone Microsoft deserves already a fatter thanks. After many months of waiting, the X8 now since a few days on my desk and there enjoys their users. The design is based on the known highly cabled predecessor X5, however, was again optimized in favor of a better handling. In particular, the two side thumb buttons are now integrated harmoniously into the housing and can be operated much more pleasant than it was the case with the X5. Top center are the 3 DPI keys, which individually can be proven with the desired DPI values ​​through software. The conversion of the DPI sensitivity works at any time, even during the game, by simply pressing a key. Before the DPI buttons is sunk another button that directly opens the menu and mouse so quick adjustments possible. The current DPI value is displayed in a small screen.

The 4-way scroll wheel engages precisely in all directions, but requires a bit more power when scrolling due to the slightly higher rotational resistance in conjunction with the metal surface of the wheel. Here I would rather like to see at the expense of beautiful appearance a slip-resistant rubberized surface, because despite roughened metal wheel slides you initially with a finger pressure is too low also happy times without turning over the wheel.

Left front is tucked away the black Macro button (not silver as on most product photos). About Her individual functions or processes can be stored on the programmable mouse buttons during the game. For me not so important but real gamers will surely appreciate this feature.

A special feature is, however, at the X8 which to charge the battery cell enclosed insertable cable connection. The cable is easy front created on demand via a magnetic contact and then loads the battery cell during use to. The thin cable does not bother going there the magnetic coupling holding deep in the housing base. The charging takes place very quickly. Ingeniously solved, I think. Another very laudable Plus point: In the mouse there is an on / off switch, which prevents battery discharge during periods of inactivity.

The ergonomic mouse is possibly easy to get used to if you come from normal mice, because the total X8 somewhat flatter fails and the hand space not as massive fills how it is often used today. In addition, the X8 falls earlier from forward where other mice still offer assistance. For this, however, the two control fingers are then very good. The weight of the mouse can not be changed, but I feel as comfortable because not too light and not too heavy. In case the recipient is still two sets differ liable sliding feet. For my purposes, but the already mounted gliders were optimal.

Perhaps more striking that the two main buttons (right and left finger) of X8 slightly louder clicking noises cause over standard mice. This is presumably similar to the scroll wheel on the whole slightly more powerful engine pressure points. Accidental triggering is therefore with the X8 unlikely. Who would like to prefer to work in silence, so it should be better access to another model.

The installation of the included driver software and setting the desired parameters worked flawlessly, the startup has happened quickly.

My Conclusion:
The new X8 is technically and visually a real treat for me. She feels very well made at, fits comfortably in your hand and can be wonderfully easy to adjust to your own needs by DPI adjustment. It offers so not only advantages in games but also for example in photo or graphic applications. The only significant criticism on my part is a little too stiff rotating wheel, even if you get used to TAC, after a short time. In fairness, should probably fall into the category criticism the price, although innovations unfortunately want are often paid. However, I am sure that the current technology of the X8 will lead the way for future products in this area. While the X8 is not perfect, but the best thing my Mousepad has ever seen.
