Just one year ago I started with digital photography. My first purchase was a D5000 with 18-105 kit lens. A great camera with which I am still very satisfied. My favorite photography subject is macro photography and I also do a lot of sports photography (cycling, basketball, ...) When my first lenses in addition to the kit lens I therefore managed my 105mm / 2.8 Micro VR (My absolute favorite lens) and the 70-300mm VR on. With two optical systems the handling of the D5000 was suffering somewhat because both lenses are heavier than the rather compact D5000. Moreover, my claim increased ease of use and value of housing increases photography experience. Therefore needed a larger caliber. I really thought long between the just-introduced D7000 and D300s but somewhat older. Both housing several times I had in hand at the photo shop. Here, the 300 felt something valent. They also fit better in my relatively large hands. To compare the image quality I can not say anything, I do not know the D7000 to the effect, and with a few snapshots in photo shop can be safe here no serious comparison queue. The megapixels are I do not care and I finally decided for the 51 measuring fields (for sports photography) and because of my opinion somewhat higher quality housing for the D300s. In sports I meet the slightly higher frame rate. Now, after 10 months of parallel use of D300s and D5000 I can say that emit two really great duo. For future projects I usually use the D300s and for spontaneous trips, the compact 5000. Sometimes two devices in my backpack, which saves several lens changes are. For my purposes, the D300s is the perfect camera. Most of the time mounted on my D300s the 105mm VR Micro, in addition I use now the battery grip. Feel and harmony I find perfectly with this combination. Despite the same sensor, the image quality between D300s and D5000 in JPEG format is slightly different. The 5000 provides for the obviously somewhat stronger internal image editing - as far as I can determine the - minimal crisper images. Since I shoot almost exclusively in RAW that is for me but irrelevant. With regard to the stability of the D300s, so I can nuzr say outstanding. My camera had unfortunately been a fall of about 120cm survive on my granite floor. This endurance test they passed with flying colors without any quirks.
Without any limitation: 5-star ***** Conclusion for me
