The fourth (or fifth) installment of the series DANGER surprised once again with an unusual setting: a ancient Mayan temple in the jungle of South America. DANGER the series is completed as a Friend stories without continuation character for me a rare phenomenon in which I with each episode first carefully anlausche whether it is not still on a hero or a group of protagonists 'einspielt' to the apparently under radio play Fans widespread penchant for serial heroes meet. So far I was always surprised positively, and the series DANGER develops so diverse and varied in their stories that I expect any new publication with the same childlike curiosity. The author is a storyteller in the original sense, and although he draws on traditional literary sources, he does so with a light hand and a flair for the unused 'the not so well-trodden paths. The unmet genres led the listener from phenomenological Mystery (time zones) on apocalyptic postmodernism (Exit-US) and classic Pulp Horror (The thing from the depths) to kryptozoologischer adventure story (encounter in the ice) and now a dänikenetischen vision with refreshing / frightening new twist. This range of stories is impressive, and who is over 30 is a lot of its own cultural development recognize it again. Given this, I find it all the more sad that most successful serials so lightly spoon from the same old material and motif pots whose tastes seem to be exhausted in detectives, ghost hunters and adventurous youth gangs. Tikal's awakening is a dense and impressive story, sets the course more on mood than on sensation whose final but completely blew me away in its conciseness. Without giving too much away, I must explain that it is not a matter of who shows up at the end, but what they preach. The almost religious euphoria of pseudo-scientists and pre-Astro boaters 70s a hard kick is put here, which could only be carried out in an era such as this, in the visions of reflection and reorganization always with war, blood and destruction associated to seem to go. Where EXIT US unexpectedly freed himself from his apocalyptic vision of the future, TIKAL crashes attentive and sensitive listener as unexpected in an evil, dark hole. For me, the best kind of shuddering, especially since the story has the courage to end at exactly the right place and let the listener their personal prospects. A bit of a shame seems that the production is very restrained and such as animated, the jungle and the temple acoustically enhanced the fanatical priest with little demonic flair to that suburb of hell to have him haunting music and claustrophobic sound effects make can. I almost think that this substance would be better off in a radio play, where less routine and more joy of experimenting reign 'but that is the Maritim production not seriously worthy reduced! Tikal is a radio play, I had to listen twice because the characters in the shadow of her destiny seem so tragic again. The next episode of the series DANGER a title called Desecrate is announced, and now I enjoy the blazing in my conjecture, at which place and in what time I will take that (hopefully completed) radio play with it '...
