This is a talented surgeon who feels the pain of Jacques, but does not know who he is or why she feels. Since childhood she knows she is not like the others but did not know her father she believes she with a genetic disease, his mother did not tell him her powers she uses to heal it is a loner. She has incredible skills but has no idea of his true nature, his only goal is to find a cure for what she believes an orphan disease, it is fragile and strong at once. Tired of being hunted by hunters without knowing the real reason she left in the land of his birth Carpathian unknown father and driven by the will of Jacques who wants to bring it to him.
The pace is breathless, the bias of the author to make them speak in turn and show us their hateful thoughts for him agonizing for it gives a tone to the story is very addictive. Do not know why Jacques has been imprisoned or why Shea is chased is stressful, the puzzle is complete and I completely let myself driven. This ignorance Shea about his real condition will be brutally revealed to her and she will have to not only challenge but also radically change his life. Their meeting is violent and bloody.
Jacques became almost mad by his long years of isolation and suffering is at the limits of true madness, he became a beast, what it was before being caught has faded and only his hatred and vengeance count it will slowly rebuild. As in the story they will learn to know, to love: it will gradually make him understand what it really is and it will make him find his "humanity".
The story is extremely well built, the plot is compelling, yet their human pursuers of unprecedented cruelty and uncompromising description of Christine Feehan almost forces us to turn against them. The characters above the two heroes are described in depth: the suffering of Jacques and compassion Shea are highlighted, stalking the dangers they face and they face are linked together at breakneck speed interspersed with sensual scenes a rare not physical but mental abuse because the spirit of the vampire was so damaged that become the man he was many years ago is a daily struggle.
This story is most of the time oppressive, dark, interspersed with brighter passages when the inexorable love they feel gradually appears. I enjoyed this book very dark and unusual for me to the bed Bit I usually appreciate, because the humor often found in the current series is virtually absent here.
