In addition to the Nightwish typical bombastic symphonic metal sound, which has ultimately shaped an entire genre, and ballad-like passages, comes by Troy Donockley an extremely attractive Folk-facet added (since I hear Celtic Punk and medieval rock I like it very well) ,
The new frontwoman Floor Jansen contributes in no small way on this album a metal highlight was. Although I find Tarja still really good, but floor is just right for Nightwish. She has a powerful and multi-faceted voice that ranges from classical style ballads to wild, rough rock. She not only sings falsetto but many chest voice what her voice, especially in the middle and deep pitches as compared to its predecessors considerably more volume there. This is therefore a suitable complement to Marcos powerful martial voice. Your outfit and their stage show play skillfully with the bad girl image and metal acts in their own headbanging authentic than their predecessors.
However, an authenticity which applies to the complete on the band. One notices in many little things that the atmosphere and communication between the musicians is true. Incidentally, this is a significant difference at end of an era where you can clearly see that between Tarja and the rest of the band is no longer correct. The really great musicians have here obviously fun and deliver a rousing music show. That Marco finally kisses his bass is an indication of the importance of music for the artist.
I throw the Blue Ray a regular basis because I there and then just feel good. It is simply metal at its best. It's incredible, but also tens of runs I find no track I want to skip because I had heard my fill.
And now for the technology. There were slight improvements over End Of An Era. The film cuts are a little less hectic and unmotivated. However, the 5.1 is still suboptimal sound. The centers are overemphasized and the basses are too lean. Only thanks to the various Einstellmöglichen my AV receiver I could reach a reasonably balanced sound. This really would be a star deduction but for me personally the performance of the musicians is a higher monetary value and my AV can alleviate the problem at least.
Da Floor and Troy have been appointed in the meantime, at fixed band members, I look forward to the next album and the next tour.
The only drawback: unfortunately I was not in Wacken this ;-)
