Debilitation of the 1-star reviews

Hello There,
also I have since Christmas this eBook. I have already several times the 1-star reviews listed here commented. Now I am doing this in a separate review and go beyond that and tell about my experience with the device.

- Missing color display: Of course, this device does not have a color display, since it is not possible with the eInk technology, display color. That should anyone who thinks about the purchase of eBooks know actually. It is not a "small iPad", but a completely different device that only has a touch sensitive screen. The advantages of eInk method are obvious. One can read in the sun, it consumes almost no electricity view the pages (only the turning requires energy) and it looks forward to the "paper" most similar.

- No support for Adobe DRM: Please what? Sorry, but the reader can, of course, like most, read Adobe DRM. However, one must of course purchase, have a valid license on your PC and then load with the Sony Reader software these books by synchronization to the reader these books LEGAL. It includes its own already logically from that one on the drive from the Reader "it attracts" those books just drag and drop. I've already bought some 13 books and all without problems had on my reader within seconds. Thus, it is of course also possible to borrow books from libraries, provided that they offer that too.

- Annoying Firmware Updates: I have the reader, as I said, since Christmas and had been twice the pleasure with an update. It went with me (DSL line) within 1 minute on the PC and then within 3-4 minutes was my readers again completely ready. There were no problems, that about the software hangs, or that books have disappeared. Everything was as usual there, but just in a new version. How can you complain that a group offers free updates for a device actually ?! All devices are now equipped with firmware update, if there is a ebook reader, a BluRay player, which Vision iPhone or anything else now. As long as it works well, it is the best thing there is.

- When you switch the font is black and it "flickers": Yes. This is due to the eInk technology. The turning lasts only half as long as when I outer leaves a book by hand. What this criticism should therefore, to my mind escapes.

- Bad Dictionaries: Well, it depends on the language in which to read your eBooks. There is, in my opinion, very good "German-English" and "German-English" dictionary. The other dictionaries I do not need. I count now but just once all on: New Oxford American Dictionary, Oxford Dictionary of English, Oxford-Hachette French Dictionary (EN-FR and FR-EN), Collins (English-German and German-English), Oxford Spanish Dictionary ( EN-ES and ES-EN), Collins English-Italian Dictionary and Collins Italian English, Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek Angel Nederlands and Nederlands-Engels.
Those who want even more dictionaries, buys best an electronic dictionary, which has been developed especially for this purpose.

- Not Amazon eBooks: It can not. But this is not due to the Sony Reader, but Amazon. Here Amazon operates a policy which serves the own device Kindle, and the associated eBooks for sale. No other device except the Kindle can be opened in a position to have this page. But the Kindle is not able to open the standard format "epub". Epub is distributed by all the other popular eBook stores, including include Libri, Thalia, Mayersche, etc. The "free" classics that you will find here always at Amazon, you will find mostly also free at Project Gutenberg. This is just as legal and as good as the Kindle version.
Converting epub format into Amazon is forbidden and apart from that, this will work only with dubious software. Andersrum same. Epub DRM is as protected as the Amazon format.

- Notes that fill the memory: The problem I had not yet, but I think that this is very annoying and sometimes can be a reason to give the reader back. My advice, just try it and hope that you're not there. The problem seems anyway to affect only a very limited clientele.

The only problem I had with the reader so far was that when I have the pages turned over a finger on the display, one word was highlighted on the next page. But this has subsided since the last firmware update and is not again occurred.

I will update my review on occasion to dispel any further "criticisms".

UPDATE from 21:03.

According to Sony, has been solved with the latest update of the Reader software to the problem of duplicate notes. Whether that is true I can not judge, because for me this problem did not occur.
