What a CD! Dieter Falk delivers a piece of heart, music like fresh black bread, a long way from pleasing synth pop or Sacro-Schmus. His interpretations of Paul Gerhardt's songs are just as exciting as it is logical, brimming with creativity and sound sometimes playful like puppies. That was recorded without electronic admixtures, makes things even more alive. This is exactly the main development of this multi-musician who rocked before a quarter century and Bach chorales brought to swing.
It's like Auguste Rodin: was once asked as the sculptor of a admirer: "Master, as you suggest merely out as a huge block of marble a lion out," he said tersely: "It's simple, madam: chip away everything that does not Leo is. "
This is exactly what Falk was achieved through this CD: Pure music, faith and pure joie de vivre. Something like that is pretty darn rare these days - I think it would actually be seven stars.
