Experiences: When reading the manual, I was surprised that you have the mini Homer, if you look at more than 300 km away from the last position determination or the device is not used for longer than 3 months, and 15 minutes to take the time to update the almanac data and ephemeris. OK, a bit cumbersome, but if it helps. I have made all the settings and tested the device on several day trips in the car and walk in nature and it was usually the correct data. The endurance test followed last weekend at a city break. I'd left the unit during the flight in order to save the 15 minutes to update the data locally. Unfortunately, the device has turned off during the flight on its own, which I had actually expected, but we must indeed hope .... Outside the hotel, I have the data updated and recalibrated and the compass. I have the miniHomer outside attached to my camera bag (for GPS reception) and let's go for sightseeing. Dinner in the hotel was from the device again, even though the battery was still more than half full. Why and when that happened - no idea. The next day I had the mini Homer closely watched and lo and behold, after every ride on the subway or any longer tour in buildings the power was off. According to the manual, the Mini Homer turns off when 10 min. no key is pressed for 10 minutes. no position determination has been performed and the instrument 10 min. has no movement registered. Although I have no buttons pressed determined, but I am several times a day 10 min. had no GPS reception and did not move me at the same time, is virtually ruled out, which leads me to the question of how the movement is registered. I had the mini Homer - after I was in a building or subway rode - each time to hire again and check the GPS reception. I was very surprised how long it but sometimes needed, until he had a signal again, although I have moved me within a city or even the building had left in the same place where I had entered it before. Except for charging, I could ignore him and he almost has his work yet done reliably. Three weeks later at home I could understand every moment of my holiday. A reconsideration based on the instructions of the mini Homer, if I did something wrong, showed that you can turn off the automatic shutdown feature on the NTRIP software. Too bad that I have a Mac and the software only works with Windows. Whether the device then remained on and the recording would have been better, I do not know. The position would have to be re-determined in any case. To transfer the data I use for years myTracks, so there were no problems. The device is detected and read the data easily.
