I devoured this book, really. It makes us fly over the history of the Republic of Venice, stopping on the most prominent of them, for better or for worse. Piazza Venezia in the world through the ages is widely discussed there, too, perhaps. This is the only complaint I could make this book: the Doge is sometimes too highlighted, stifling the man behind the mask Serene Prince. I would have liked to know more about the lives of these men, for some, even many, were walled up alive in their function, not having the right to abdicate their daily lives, the official ceremonies - even the famous Sensa is touched upon, shame!, and anecdotes that would make them appear less static, more human and close, like that of hens in the Palazzo Ducale by the Doge Giovanni Corner, Home fresh eggs ... Any ideas for a forthcoming book, who knows ????
