Installed is a Samsung hard drive (Spinpoint F4) with 2TB capacity. Older Spinpoint F4 models still had a firmware damage, which could be resolved in a cumbersome firmware update. In this current model Trekstor a current brand of 2TB Samsung is now installed, which can be read with reference to the firmware revision number. No firmware update necessary. Currently is currently (March 2011)! Apart from the rounded body and the somewhat more compact design with possibly thinner aluminum walls, the model is identical to the previous model (2TB Trekstor maxi gu). There is to be noted an appreciable difference:
When "Safely Remove Hardware" the hard drive by ejecting (click on the green arrow in the system tray), the panel shuts down completely and stops the rotation. This is called spin down. The controller must then additionally from electricity (socket / adapters) are separated by flipping the on / off switch.
The whole thing is a gratifying behavior of the plate. Please look at my Amazon purchase history. All my boards are purchased from Trekstor and I'm very satisfied with product and customer care (incl. Technical support). Thank you.
