On too many technical details I will not go into here if you are interested just the right item from DCRainmaker read ([...]). As a PhD engineer, I will nevertheless make it not without technical things. I want more talk about my experiences in the first two weeks and as everyday feels like the clock (training) and where the differences are the 910XT. Anticipation, the clock is compared to the 910XT has become much thinner and worn very comfortably. In Natura I like it also substantially better than in the photos.
Set Up
Here Garmin has made real progress. With Garmin Express all settings with the clock are synchronized via Bluetooth. Also up to three WLAN can be set up with it. The coupling with the smartphone is simply performed by Garmin app. The coupling with the ANT + sensors is similar to the 910XT in principle. The biggest difference is that you can create a sensor pool. It also several sensors of the same type can be created (eg: RF chest strap, power measurement).
Training Features
New additions include indoor cycling and indoor running while GPS is disabled. This is quite handy because you do not have an extra disable the GPS for indoor activities. For outdoor activities, the GPS is found extremely fast (about 15s, sometimes faster than the HF chest strap), which in everyday use (and low temperatures) means a real advantage. The times where I had to wait 5 minutes until I finally had a GPS connection is thus over. Furthermore, it is possible to define custom categories. A new feature is also a recreation counselor (after a training session) and an estimate of the recovery state (after about 7 minutes during the workout). In addition, there is for cycling and running a VO2max estimation and forecasting of a running race times. The recreation guide sham to me to be very pessimistic, the recovery state fits quite well with my subjective feelings together and running forecast translucent to me to be extremely optimistic; with me currently 5km: 17:22, 10km: 36:02, HM: 1:19:38, Marathon: 2:46:25 - I would trust none of these times. The calculation is performed using the tables of Jack Daniels (yes, the is really so and it does not involves the whiskey). He's a treadmill, and wrote a term Bible (). The book is not as well known as the books of Marquard or Steffny with us. Personally, I find it very good, however, and see it as an absolute Kauftip on - especially for triathletes. The extremely optimistic term forecast has in my opinion, two causes: The VO2max estimation of 920XT is too optimistic. The term prediction of Jack Daniels is particularly at the longer distances, also very optimistic.
Swimming
Here's a great feature of the Garmin Swim has been adopted. Pressing the Lap button mode turns the clock directly into a break here will change the background from white to black, and more importantly the pause time and the departure time is displayed which is quite handy in training. In addition there is a practice mode in which, after the interval the length manually enters in technology and leg exercises real progress. In Garmin Connect these intervals are then called drilling; see [...] interval No.. 9
Cycle
I used the clock when cycling really only as a data logger with coupling units because I usually use the Edge 800 with the wheel. How fortunate that even a coupling unit has stalled: [...]
Running
The biggest difference is the entry and display of Pace. This is now always set to 0: 05min / km rounded. When 910XT was the displayed precision in 0: 01min / km. This is not necessarily negative, since the GPS Pace usually quite strongly varies but on average they then fit quite well. If I am already in the GPS accuracy here the 920XT has a little need for improvement.

Originally I had planned to make something equal competition experience with the clock and report. Unfortunately I was a viral infection of 12-13:12. struck down that I am 14:12. have not felt for the planned race fit enough.
Activity Tracker
A purchase of an Activity Tracker makes the 920XT unnecessary because all the usual features (steps, sleeping, calorie counter) are already installed. These are also displayed on the clock. Thus, you always have a daily overview of how many steps you went, the current calories burned and distance traveled. All this data can be displayed quite clearly as Beriche at Garmin Connect.
SmartWatch features
Since I can only own an iPhone, unfortunately, not say anything about how the clock behaves with Android or Windows Phone. But I suppose that there are no major differences. In principle, the SmartWatch feature is pretty nice. If an email or a notification of an app, this is indicated by the clock and you can read the message. This is quite discreet and not constantly digs smartphone out because it vibrates a quick look at the clock and you know whether it's important or not. The same applies to calls on the clock will be displayed one who is calling. This function can be set independently for training and normal clock mode. Pure smartwatches certainly have a lot more features, but the 920XT's primarily a training computer and no SmartWatch. Personally, I like the features offered 920XT very good and would in everyday life no longer do without it.
Synchronization
The synchronization of clock and Garmin Connect is either via the wireless connection or via Bluetooth to your smartphone. In everyday life, this is a huge improvement for me because I do not ever with the ANT + stick must upload the data manually. Everything happens here all by itself. Garmin Connect now supports connections to other Onlinplattformen (eg: Strava, Training Peaks) the trainings are automatically synchronized. In addition, it is also possible the original files from Garmin Connect downloading them then in offline training tools (eg: SportTracks, Ruby tracks, Golden Cheetah) to import.
Bugs
So successfully found a bug I have to report not only positive experience. Due to the good weather in the Monday, 08.12. I decided spontaneously for a coupling unit. Here is the link to run split:
[...]
As can be seen missing heart rate. After changing the clock could not find the RF transmitter belt. Only after completion of the activity of the HF Brunstgurt was found again.
Missing Features
I can think of two features an I would have liked:
Herfrequenzaufzeichung in water, either as with the new Suunto chest strap, this temporarily stores the data and then transfers it to the clock as soon as a connection is made, or built-in RF measurement in the clock as Mio and TomTom have installed.
Setting the training pages on the computer as it has long been possible with Polar
View
An interesting feature that Garmin is still stoking the possibility for the clock apps to programmers. The possibilities are quite varied. From pure Uhrdesigns to data fields with graphics, everything is possible here. To this end, there should be a kind Appstore. For those out there interested in further information under [...]
