Great music, not a concert ...

Oh, how much I've been looking forward, as "Hotel Europa" was announced: Finally a successor to the brilliant "Urk" -Live CD! And, moreover, exclusively with material that was created after "Urk", ie from 1990 to 2014. To anticipate the same: "Urk" can hereby be no competition - simply because it is no concert recording. "Hotel Europe" consists of assembled live recordings of individual songs. Except for the applause, no contact with the public will take place, from time to time a "thank you" or "Merci", that was it. After each song: Cut, pause, next song. A live atmosphere never comes on. The biggest shortcoming is my opinion, however, that the procedure is chronological, that it be with "Malpensa" starting retroactively considered all the CDs to "Giant Normal Dwarf". Thus, there are few surprises in the end. Why four stars nevertheless? Since the interpretations of the songs are just great and the band before playfulness is replete! Even on the album "1974" MMN superfluous "jealousy" come live over really well. OK, in some places I have the song selection did not fully understand (why "monorail", where it yet masterpieces like "Love Locks" or "Minus 2nd Floor" to "Malpensa" are !?), but that's all right. For fans "Hotel Europa" is always a must ...
