I usually availed the original silicone adapter that came with my Sennheiser IE7. The silicone adapter can however for the Munich subway by too much noise. So listening to music on the go is no pleasure.
The Comply Foam Tips must trim only once before use if se should fit well on the Sennheiser IE7. They consist of a hard rubber tube which is pushed over the earphones. On the hard rubber is a very soft and flexible, almost chewing gum-like material is pulled, which ensures the sealing.
It's a very nice fumbling to pull these adapters to the Sennheiser. If you have done it, you realize that are the sound outlets very deep below the rim. As someone else has already written, the Comply Adater are too long. They can be cut by a few millimeters with a very sharp knife. However, this is not easy, because those things are also very soft and pliable. You soft when cut from the knife and you can hardly hold. A straight and clean cut is a matter of luck.
Cut off and pulled back on the IE7, it looks finally out ok. If you put the ear adapters to the ear, first press a little uncomfortable. But as they are very soft, they deform in a few seconds so that they eventually go well. The temptation to take a smaller size, which are not suppressed from the outset, you should resist: if it was not initially expresses something seals is not good enough from.
The music sounds good and is clearly understandable. I test with Simon and Garfunkel, Sounds of Silence in the Audio Fidelity version. This recording is made from the original master, without compression and with the full headroom. So there is quite quiet places that require a good insulation, wenns fun to do.
On my iPod Nano 2nd Generation of I hear from approximately 25% of Maximallaustärke well. From 30% to underground sounds are then only marginally to hear, even in the older trains rumble. In the new music sounds really good.
A disadvantage of Comply Foam Tips, however, is that they are fast dingy. The rough and soft surface is a magnet for earwax (yes, my ears are clean, almost too dry, because I swim 3 times a week). You can take approximately 3 with regular use - expect four weeks life, then look at the things from disgusting.
Sennheiser himself as an accessory ear tips made of PU foam to offer. The noble - models IE7 and 8 each have a pair is. For the other, you can reorder them as original spare parts. The adapters are suitable for example also very good on the CX series. The Sennheiser ear adapters are coated with a smooth surface. The clean can be, so that they last forever. The fit to IE7 is of course not a problem: they fit great and are easy to assemble.
In the ear, however they are not as comfortable. When she chooses large enough for good seal, press quite nicely. By ear heat it but eventually adapt well and place in a comfortable fit for. But takes determined 10-15 minutes. After take out the reset quickly.
The isolation of the Sennheiser is however as good as at the complys. Sounds of Silence sounds very good. I once dared to hear classic in the subway. Bruckner's 5th Symphony (Günter Wand). Since there is very quiet and very loud passages and so a piece is really a stress test for the insulation. At 30% volume the soft passages are still swallowed something. In 50% of the volume you can hear quiet places but for my taste then the loud parts are uncomfortably loud and you have to settle down. No pleasure therefore in old undergrounds. However, it goes into the new quieter carriages.
Conclusion:
Both the Comply Foam Tips and the Sennheiser PU foam ear adapters attenuate outside noise quite well and about equally well. The complys are very fast convenient, must be snugly Allerding cut and dirty quickly.
The Sennheiser Adapter press more, but remain clean and are easy to clean.
Both help that Musikören go makes a lot more fun and you can hear quieter without hearing thus less.
Maybe it belongs also to the conclusion that the noise reduction is mainly dependent on the adapters used, and not only by the listeners themselves. Whoever has a good listener, the dams is not good, does not need the same buy new earphones, but can with good prospects of success first of all try different ear adapters.
