Very poor DECT reception!

The feel of the device + Accessories I feel as good, that it was frequently criticized that it is wobbly or "cheap" is in the hands. I would not confirm and was also happy with the phone here. Pressure point of the keys, processing etc. are therefore to be welcomed.

Commissioning, log on to the box are AVM typical easy and takes just a few minutes (but this example with any simple Siemens Gigaset identical simple is).

The menu system is simple in design and ebefalls good to use. All points that you're looking for are also found without manual immediately and are self-explanatory. Only the menu speed is a bit sluggish and often make navigating a bit exhausting.

So much for the positive characteristics!

Before we get underway here are a few details:
Have ISDN, so no IP / Internet phone calls, all firmware is up to date, and Box Fon are set akripisch and otherwise I'm technically not necessarily a layman. Fritz (here yes the DECT base) is on the ground floor, Fon upstairs. We have a completely open design, so no intervening tens of doors or walls, distance about 10m.

Before I introduced the first phone call I wanted to quickly enable guest access my box, which is listed as a menu item in Fon. Here advance is only the hint that you should do this on his computer, or the Fritz interface. This point is not running in advance. Although I am aware that every now AVM nachbessert again via firmware, but in this way the "customer service" I have long tired, neither in nor AVM with other manufacturers (yes soon the case everywhere).

Features like image deposit, Internet radio, etc. I do not use and I have not tested.

Before the first conversation I once voted the stored test number, with which one can test the HD voice in different qualities. Already here I thought the only hope remains that this is not the "future" of IP telephony. Why? It sounds more than modest, no matter the quality, but because it is in my case to the good old landline that supposed to each test yourself.

Then the first "real" phone call! Upstairs in whatever space permanently dropouts / pops and an ever-present noise. This you can hear not only themselves, but also of the discussion participants. As soon as you will move only slightly more intensiever. On the ground floor it is only in the immediate Nearer the box stable, ie the door (the only one which "shields" the Fritz box!) Is closed and from here for about 4-5m. Toward the living room, it is absolutely identical as described above. Noise in fact always remains. I tested days, ie x people phoned AVM contacted (Answer: Box for checking sending what utter nonsense is because I already with so many users that have the same problem in connection am I that saves me), foreign manufacturers to test, etc . The quality in this area is never even close to the simplest example, Siemens Gigaset.

A repeater is recommended in various forums yet what absolutely does not come into question for me, because this first, on average 100, - additional costs Euro and more, and second only transmits unencrypted. Oh I almost forgot, there is a third possibility also encrypted to send: You buy "just" a second Fritz box with DECT and you've got an encrypted repeater ....?!

Conclusion:
I take back my "-mixed" Gigaset devices which function properly and will now buy me a uniform combo. The Fritzfon not convince me. The most important feature of a phone, namely the call is met more than poor. All other features are nice, but so trivial that it is not an argument for me to keep the part. I have it returned.
