Symantec products, which I then used in the form of pure anti-virus software are known to me from the earlier use. As I recall, the antivirus protection already worked reliably even years ago, and I can not remember a certain blockages certain application functions due to virus protection. That was also the reason for a temporary change to products of Kaspersky. My reasons for the recent change: The 10-device package that I, extended mainly to the comprehensive Internet security protection, have not been discovered in the form elsewhere. And the manufacturer's information for easy installation on various devices that have been found to be actually true. It is mainly these practical aspects that represent me in the foreground.
As noted on several occasions that a purely technical reliability for detecting and rendering safe of malware for non-specialists is already very difficult to gauge. Compared to Kaspersky I could find so far in this regard is only one difference, which is however explained by a special function, an anti-spam plug-in for Outlook. Certain spam emails that passed last with Kaspersky Anti-Virus are now filtered out. The extent to show in terms of safety in other areas of differences, I have yet to figure out by prolonged use.
I want to look at a number of points which seem to me worth mentioning to install and functions:
*******
In Windows 7, my current application constellation and the activation of all security features (antivirus, firewall, antispam, identity protection) in the default configuration I could find no permanent obstruction of applications or an impairment of performance. In the field Firewall -> Program Control you have the possibility to individually adjust for all applications to access the Internet, that allow to block or specify other rules in doubt.

After activating the package my Adobe Creative Suite license was run only in the trial, after years works fine. To enable it regularly again, to re-enter the license key was necessary. An impairment whose reason was not recognizable and fix fortunately easily made, but apparently was related to the function of the security package. It is unfortunate that one has to rely on trial and error in such cases, since one naturally does not penetrate into the depths of such a complex software and as such not really know which way errors of this kind are to be released again.

Providing the software on a product key, that is a legitimate by buying download, I think for a security software, in particular due to the cross-device application, absolutely fine. A CD is really not necessary for this purpose. The download on the norton.com site and the subsequent installation on the host computer was very straightforward, helped by a very clear and simple user interface. May enroll in or setting up a new Norton Account. This also makes sense, because let on that account add later via the browser new devices or the configuration can be changed in each case.

The user interface of the software package is built successfully. One finds at the top level just five juxtaposed functional areas: security identity backup performance More Norton that indicate in their coloring, ideally in green if everything is OK or not. A striking information surface, so to speak. Can be activated by clicking on the green arrow, which lists specific actions for each functional area, behind which, in turn, are diverse settings that allow completely individual configurations. When disabling certain functions you will incidentally referred to the possible danger. A fairly transparent user interface that are not passed on when you will leave the default settings, which makes if necessary but the change possible one. Many of the options remain of course quite cryptic for the uninitiated. Who still cares about is a question mark icon links to a declaration on the Symantec Web site.

The bundled backup feature that enables the backup from a specified range of data either on your own system or within a supposedly secure online storage (up to 25GB), I do not use myself, since I regularly otherwise adequate backup options back grab. The functional performance that one would expect in a security software package is not necessarily, on the other hand I find quite handy. It allows you to defragment the hard disk, cleanup temporary Windows files and individual settings for the applications that are immediately available when starting the computer. You can set a start delay on the launch manager for individual application in favor of a faster startup. Thus, the safety features are in as I find coherent manner combined with a regulatory function.

The most useful item in the 10-device package is certainly the area More Norton. This is in principle in a link to an entry mask below the Norton site that lets you add additional devices. For external devices there is an e-mail address to which a download link will be sent. From each device can then either download the software (PC, Mac, laptop) or you will be forwarded with Android mobile devices to the Google Play Store, from which one the Norton Mobile Security app downloaded and activated. The term transfer of protection is however misleading here. Actually one installed on each device each device type adapted software. Any device with installed protective then appear in the applied Norton Account and can be managed there. What's in the event of downloads solved through the Play Store not good: It should be noted that initially activated, a 30-day trial, giving the impression that over the free version beyond functions of Apps summarized in so-called App consultants were not included. In another process but one logs only on his account and recognized these functions as part of the package acquired.
The whole one can speak connected in series and successively perform for all devices. This procedure is also recommended, since the useful life shall apply from the date of the first installation on a device. So you have a date on which one can orient oneself across. The license is valid in this full version for one year and can then be either extended manually, or to set up a an automatic extension.

At the much clearer compared to the PC version of Android version shows very clearly that customized security solutions have been established for each type of device. The Android version includes not only the malware detection app the consultant who checked if an installed app collected private information, contains adware, the battery performance too much load or when not in use to send data. In addition, there is a way to block unwanted calls and personal websites to prevent from tapping on the mobile device stored data. Versions of PC and Mac functions, safety, identity and power, but it is still geared to the special features of the mobile technology. An additional option is the anti-theft protection that allows you to lock the device, a locating and deleting data on the device in the browser or even via SMS. Something that sounds good, but almost certainly has no relevance. This requires namely that the device is online.

From the feeling irritating is the speed is displayed in the Mobile App that no malware and no problematic apps were found. From free antivirus apps that I had previously used, I was used to a longer search. This one is done in half a minute, with the subsequent notice that the scan will now run automatically and the device is thus always protected. Well, one can only believe it actually. I have a precaution once changed the scanning interval from weekly to daily. The reliability has yet to prove himself first.

The minimum requirement for the operating system for PCs, I can confirm. After having successfully installed the software on a PC, two trays and a smart phone, still followed an older laptop that still runs with Windows Vista. Although the first attempt failed, but that was because the Service Pack 1 was not installed. Following this upgrade also install Norton Security had any problems. Users must install Service Pack 1: For all Vista users, therefore the tip.
