I'll reproduce here only my personal impression; others will perhaps see many different and let plasma fans anyway nothing good to say an LCD LED TV. Since I have read many reviews by other devices, lately very much in advance some explanations, because the terms are not any seemingly familiar and therefore sometimes leads to mistakes and influences the reviews accordingly.
The declaration is based exclusively on regarding my understanding of read explanations of the LED technology. If something is not correct, please note.
The Grundig VLE 55 922 BL is an LCD LED TV. Also LED LCD technology, only LEDs will take the (formerly) used tubes now used to backlight.
The LED devices, a distinction between two types: the Edge-LED design in which the LEDs are even used around the panel in the frame and the Direct LED technology, in which the LEDs fully seated behind the panel. In both techniques, there are devices with "local dimming" feature, in which the backlight can be turned down by a direct drive per Dimming block (or LED segments with Edge-LED) and advantages when black level and contrast are achieved. These devices, however, are significantly more expensive than devices without local dimming and generally you have to say well: There are very good Edge LED devices and also bad Direct LED devices a blanket statement Direct-LED is always better can not meet. At the end of one's own eye should decide which device you choose
Something that is often misunderstood: the notion of many (even Edge-LED) manufacturers used Full (Backlight) LED. Suggests a Direct-LED device, means nothing other than that the backlight fully (only) generated by LEDs. And that is even with Edge-LEDs of the case
Enough geklugscheißert, now to review
DESIGN:
The TV looks very classy with its black glass base and the black glossy frame. The frame is about 2 cm wide; narrow enough for a 55 inch TV for my mind to leave the unit act very delicately. My previous TV (also a Grundig Vision 9 47 Customs 9980, an LCD without LED technology) looked with almost 15 cm deep and 5 cm wide frame more massive, even though he had only 47 inches. The VLE 55,922 gets to the wall very well and definitely also a WAF. ;-)
The workmanship is very good, I can not have different or similar clearances notice.
As mentioned in some critics of television, however, has mounted on the foot a slight tilt (about 5 10 mm) to the left when you sit in front of it. Since I had him standing only on the first day of testing on the feet (he now hangs on the wall) I might have the bolts tightened not really fixed, but that should have no effect on the slope according to other reviews.
In the glass base, a relatively thick, short rod is screwed to which the TV is simply plugged. Thus, the stem is not slipping out while lifting the TV the whole thing is fixed with a smaller screw from behind. As already described by others can be the screen but after both sides rotate. Apparently the TV is but on the left side (where the ports are) a little harder and thereby hangs down a bit. Some of the reviewers here do not mind; I would personally but disturbing and I would like also always ensure that the TV is just. Am pretty fixed Levels. ;-)
EQUIPMENT:
Often mentioned and read on the supply side. Technically connection remain nothing to be desired, whether a functions (Smart TV, etc.) must be sufficient everyone know themselves. Since I use a satellite receiver with PVR and internal hard drive plays for me, for example, the lack of a recording function does not matter. These can be found, however, with other models of Grundig, which are also much more expensive.
CONSTRUCTION / COMMISSIONING:
Due to the size best for couples. Especially when wall mounting. Without stand the unit weighs about 30 kilos. The depth of approximately 5 cm, the TV only on the lower 10 cm height where the speakers are sitting; otherwise it is only about 3 cm deep. For mounting on a wall mount four screws are; However, these do not fit with each wall bracket. I had much longer screws for my mount Sanus Systems TV wall bracket fix for 94-175 cm (37-70 inch) TV max. 68 kg take black, because I had to use spacer sleeves due to the above-mentioned type. The TV is only at the bottom (just this around 10 cm) just on the wall, the rest is then about 4 cm from.
When a review is written that the stand can be used as a wall bracket. Now that is not correct; I do not know how this would work. The base is made of glass, no drilling has the screws are intended for mounting on any wall mount!
When you first install, I can only refer to the setup without tuning etc., since I as already mentioned have an external satellite receiver, which is connected via HDMI to the TV. Therefore I can not comment on the often criticized long switching times
So connect the receiver and then looking the same optimal picture setting menu of Grundig is very clear and perfectly understandable and self-explanatory.
Operating Instructions:
In the accompanying manual is the same mentioned in the beginning that there is a Quick Start Guide and a long user guide on the website of Grundig can be downloaded. This then has 88 pages and really explains everything can be adjusted, to the last detail. There, for example, also the power-off button is mentioned with picture and explained that you can configure the power LED, which is certain to light, to a lower brightness or completely off the menu (though even with off quite easily glows, but that's barely perceptible). In standby mode it is always on and very bright, that you can only complete turn off the TVs change.
IMAGE:
From the standby mode, the TV is ready for use within a few seconds. The picture is in my opinion absolutely great, if you choose the setting user and eg scale down the backlight from 100 to 50-60. Banding or Clouding are then almost no longer visible. (If you look for it you will find, as in almost all other LED devices may naturally lighter bodies in almost black images, but these are almost imperceptible in normal operation)
The television is given as 200 Hz. In the manual is at MEMC (Motion Estimation Motion Compensation): is the menu only available for devices with 400 Hz PPR (Picture Perfection rate). Well, in my setting is available and I can also use (Low, High, Medium, Off)
The heart number is not necessarily important for a krisseliges or less krisseliges image and the associated seat pitch, but for the tail-free display of fast-moving images. The best example: tennis or football. In slow devices can be seen for example that each faster ball drags a tail behind it, similar to the mouse trace function View in Windows. Therefore usually at least 400 Hz TV for football & Co. are recommended; Grundig here it makes already with its 200 Hz (if it is for only 200 Hz) almost perfectly (like my previous Grundig also). The World Cup 2014 is coming! ;-)
Since I use an external satellite receiver, I can not give any information on the internal receiver of the TV or DVB-T. We sit about 3.30 meters and I must say: HD picture are beyond reproach, and the SD picture is in good material absolute peak and indistinguishable at first glance from HD. There are no defective pixels, colors and sharpness are overwhelming.
Only in older movies on a SD channel, the picture is not very good, but that is also the distance to the TV / screen size to owe.
What you but honestly should also mention: the display reflects quite strong. When switched off, you can flag down. If the TV is you can certainly still perceive different light sources in the room; However, that is no longer so tragic for me after a short time, despite various candles my wife on the coffee table and behind the couch, if you are not fixed on these luminous points. Solution is certainly an indirect lighting, eg behind the TV.
Whether mirroring the Panel to do with the 3D technology or other technical background has, I can not say, but really very dull panels there are rarely
3D:
Then will the review, if necessary; (3D I could lack 3D-capable Blu-ray player not test, however, the picture in HD material has been an extremely good depth / space The conversion of 2D to 3D, I have not tested it.! yet complete.)
!! Supplements: now tested: 3D Blu ray: Wow !! The conversion from 2D to 3D works just fine! If I had not thought of at the price, but I have nothing to criticize. !!
One thing I want to say to the glasses (included): whom two pairs of glasses are too little can at Amazon for just under ten euros in addition two piece order (Grundig passive 3D glasses 2-pack black). The Rating 3 of 5 stars should not take you seriously; one reviewer has awarded only one point, the glasses would with his TV not working. He has the name of the TV set with you can search and find that this is a TV with Shutter technology and Naturally appropriate shutter glasses are required for it. The Grundig here has a passive 3D technology and thus the passive glasses should work then ;-)
Another note from the long manual: HDMI port 4 does not support HDMI 1.4 and is therefore not suitable for 3D! It should be noted when you connect the Blu Ray Player
KLANG:
I only hear in stereo on my system, the boxes are left and right of the TV, the TV sound is therefore made. But of course I have tried it and can only agree with the previous speakers: I rarely such a great sound and bass experienced at a flat - super! Even better than my old Grundig with monstrous Soundbar below the screen
Connecting the PC monitor / connecting a game console
I have not tried. Target for games have quite an input lag, but also should be able to get by appropriate settings under control. There are different opinions of other reviewers. But as I said, is not tested and therefore I venture no opinion about it.
!! Supplement: Please read the comments on my review, there the issue of input lag is discussed in detail !!
INTERNET:
Not yet tested; is yet to come, but not important to me. Assessed in detail by others. Wi-Fi is not integrated, so either buy an extra dongle (there are also cheaper from other manufacturers) or wired.
ACCESSORIES:
The usual: Power cable (permanently connected to the TV), Quick start guide, Remote Control plus batteries, two passive 3D glasses
CONCLUSION:
From me the TV gets a clear 5 points, despite mirroring the display. Considering the price and the facilities in size compared with other manufacturers a great bargain; Price-performance ratio absolutely great! Other weaknesses I could not find until now. Movies and sports are really fun on the huge telly!
For the critics of the picture, especially Clouding & Co .: I am convinced that with almost every LED TV hinbekommt an acceptable image, if you only have the right attitude found. When Grundig VLE 55,922 BL here but at an unrivaled price!
I once collected my settings; is perhaps a little help. But the personal taste and you have to then possibly still operate even some fine tuning ultimately decides. ;-)
!! Revised settings: If the settings are not yet satisfactory, you can use the settings in brackets for perfect black levels and completely without clouding. !!
