At first I was very pleased with the Dual - to purchase my first record with the enclosed CD (Heaven Shall Burn - Veto). In direct comparison, I was ... shocked how much better sounded the CD. Better needle (ATN3652E) already brought a significant improvement in sound (more bass, clearer highs), but for now me the fun was still passed on vinyl :(
When an acquaintance I have compared the dual with his decent player (Thorens TD 320, Denon DL103R pickups to stereo with phono input). Of course, again a difference like night and day - so it was the dual, not the medium record ...
Before I now reprimanded by Hifi enthusiast that is logical (though: what should in the Dual DTJ Reviews make ;-)): it was my first contact with vinyl, so I could only assume that more is as with the dual ...
Meanwhile, I have me separated from the dual (because I have upgraded - I am delighted with the Vinyl Records & sound stage :)), but I do not regret the purchase in any way! It was the simplest, easiest and cheapest way for me to breathe with my previous equipment in the analog world! And on other platforms has the dual still a relatively high resale value, ie the loss if not satisfied adheres well within limits.
Conclusion:
I think the Dual is a solid entry-level device: it does what it should and plays reliably plates from.
The integrated phono preamp saves you - assuming the amplifier has not already own a phono connection - buying a required additional phono preamplifier.
For digitizing I can not say anything because I have not tested.
Unfortunately, he pushes sound to its limits - which in the price range (turntable + pickup + preamp for 120) but of course !!!
So I would also digitization with caution: I do not know what makes the program even more from the quality of the pickup ... I can anyone who simply times would retest the analog world of vinyl record, recommend the dual: due to the low price (turntable + preamplifier + pickups) and the easy installation it is in my opinion better suited for beginners, as that one is Used components separately worried. And if at some point he is no longer sufficient, you have the relatively high resale value have a small budget for a better Dreher :)
