Have bought the adapter for my iMac (Late 2009). After removing the (small plastic noses pinched) front panel, the frame was perfect fix instead of the internal SuperDrive of the iMac. The use of SSD (in my case a Forece3 Corsair) requires gentle application of force to the SSD (or HDD) is properly seated on the SATA connector. The additional clip the hard drive / SSD sits rock solid then the adapter.
The perceived speed boost by such a SSD is * really * huge and easy to get over the absence of the internal DVD burner, especially as external DVD burner (or Blu-ray drives) now are more favorable than eg HDD enclosure with FireWire 800th
