Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition (computer game)

Customer Review

First of all ... I've never written a review on a game. I'm not sure if I've ever written about ANYTHING ever a review. All the more it amazes me that I'm doing it anyway. This can only mean that it has to involve something SPECIAL.

Your looking for a real challenge? Your searches enormous game depth? Brilliant success moments? THEN BUY THIS GAME for God's sake.

My brother gave me this title. He has it on his PS3 and invited me to a very non-binding and impartial game Dark Souls. I had never heard of the game, because I'm not interested console games usually give a damn. After about 5 minutes of playing I croaked miserably. 5 minutes later, and then again. Just as probably anyone who does not know the game or its predecessors. Curiously, it did not bother me at all, on the contrary! The game gets it out that the more you dies, the motivation is only greater. Honestly I have in any other game yet as pronounced as experienced in Dark Souls. One simply has the will to do it somehow, someway to get ahead, to bite through. The feeling of having something really managed Heavy is just good. Dark Souls does not play one, you defeat it. Piece by piece, opponents of opponents. Behind every corner lurks danger nasty enemies, traps, etc.
You just constantly feel they can die at any moment. This is all the more intently to what really feels incredibly intense. It does not control just the character, one a dive, you will be the character. What, if not the, otherwise the sense of a good role-play? In short, the game has absolutely addictive.

Now a few general things that are important in my eyes.

The problem with the port

From enough other reviews may be inferred that the graphical implementation might well have be better. For this reason I do not want grand rumreiten on this ausgelutschten topic. There is a fan-Fix, the revamped graphically the game properly. I have personally tested it and found to be good, but then uninstalled because my system that simply does not create. I've had enough, the graphical presentation completely in the PC retail version. Graphic is with me personally anyway secondary. I play on 1440x900 and without AA. Give me, jerky not finished.

I also own a Logitech Rumblepad II, a very common PC gamepad ajar to the PS3 design. The game supports this controller is not completely on its own. Remedy creates Google and search for a Xbox360 pad emulator like x360ce. The tool is clearly designed, provides the necessary options to play and is very easy to use.

As many speakers can I point at this point only once it that the developer has even planned any implementation for the PC. Nevertheless, one has decided to go ahead even of granted to lack of experience in the PC area THEREOF. Of course, a certain financial interests also plays a role, but the impetus came from the community, has been taken seriously and implemented. I am very happy because I do not own a single next-gen console and can now come anyway to enjoy one of the best RPG's of recent years.

The degree of difficulty

Let's make it short: The game is for serial Noobs like me a bock serious challenge. It is relentless, rarely forgive mistakes and punished the Bildschirmtod very hard. BUT: The advancement feels so rewarding and well as with almost any other game of this type.

Gameplay / Control

Very clear thing: you need a gamepad and a lot of skill. Personally, I am a complete mouse and keyboard player and I find in the game would have a better implementation of this aspect Not done. Forget it, I've resigned myself to and ruckzuck accustomed to Pad. When submerged in Dark Souls you realize one right from the start: The game has a uniquely recognizable learning curve that rises each mastered challenge with each killed enemy. You can almost feel like you are always better with every well-placed attack, each Evasive Roll or sign defense and slowly but surely developed a sense for each enemy types.
Furthermore, there is to find a true wealth of equipment and items, which every role player like.

Story

Since I can not say much, did not go far enough.

Conclusion

Yes, the game is hard. And yes, the port could have been better. But compared to the gaming experience, what you get here are the little things. And if one does not get further times, there is a great community, which is very helpful and a lot of help and tips provides. That should also have been already, I hope I can help the one or the other, the decision somewhat. Wishes gamble each enjoy.
So and now I have to back into the game, to croak AGAIN the next boss.

Because that's the frustration, I need !!
