Delta Machine (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I have "Delta Machine" is now one of many times and to my taste, it is not outstanding good but certainly not as bad as it many perceive. It is striking to me that have once again intertwined Blue influences in their new album, the band for the umpteenth time. This can like, or may not! Even rock influences can be found once again, as they could not be more kitschy (Soothe My Soul, Soft Touch / Raw Nerve). However, the rich sound rescues over long distances under these average compositions. "Secrets to the End" is an electronic highlight in this work. Dave Gahan's voice is here very forcefully than ever before. Also "Alone" displaying a beautiful melody and a mystical sound, however, the sounds seem to me like from another tape stolen. "Should be Higher" can convince me, though Gahan's high voice in the chorus is once some getting used to even completely. "Angel" is a great song and makes me conciliatory.

My conclusion: Depeche Mode has been able to find a rich sound for their songs. The album is warm, self-contained and around (this is them in the last few albums not very successful). It contains some great compositions, as well as some kitsch and banal songs. In the end, a Depeche Mode feeling will not adjust properly so, probably missing here a striking, idiosyncratic. I also miss the liveliness and the extensive Blue freedom "Sounds of the Universe" could still deliver.
From the feeling I forgive 4 stars
