On my wanderings in Southern Africa was always my eTrex30 securely anchored to the backpack or belt, yet close at hand with this carbine. Solid, non-magnetic and light (aluminum) but quite expensive! A GPS that falls down the steep slope, can be life-threatening if you then lose your orientation.
