Delivery and packaging:
The unit is delivered well packed in Styrofoam. Also in the package are a power cable, remote control incl. 2x AAA batteries, the base and a quick start guide (a real printed manual is not included, but can be on the Philips website download)
First impression and installation:
After unpacking the good processing falls on. Glossy plastic dominates the front, still a brighter strip has been placed under the screen as an accent. The remote control is logical and fits comfortably in your hand.
After connecting the (room) antenna for DVB-T (a set top box for analog and digital cable TV incl. HD is also installed, this lack of connection but not I use) and the power cord of the television starts.
A wizard queries all relevant data such as reception mode and start the channel scan.
Also, the picture and the sound by assistant on their own needs can be adjusted, which is solved very well especially for lay people and you do not have to mess with contrasting values, etc..
Image and sound:
After configuring the image of the impression is very good.
There can be no halos notice the colors are really good and the viewing angle is very wide (so can the next football game will be enjoyed with friends).
Philips is for the panel at a refresh rate of 100Hz, but this is a sham.
It is a 50Hz panel that but by backlight blinking (the lighting can be dimmed in dark scenes / off) and other image enhancer is supported and so comes to the "100Hz".
This does not detract from the TV pass but even football games are clear and blur not thanks to the fast panels.
The sound is surprisingly good for the size, you have set him right in the wizard is even a hint of bass sound.
Connection types, including network media player and Youtube client:
The TV has 3 Tuner, DVB-T for digital Antennenfersehen, DVB-C for digital cable TV incl. HD and Pay-TV everywhere thanks to CI slot and an analog tuner.
When connected via DVB-T or DVB-C, the familiar features such as EPG offer (Digital TV guide) etc., the switching time is in operation with approximately 0.5 seconds acceptable.
When connecting the other devices are 3x HDMI (2x 1x back and on the side), 1x SCART, 1x VGA and a combined component / composite input.
It also include a coaxial output for home theater system and a headphone jack ready.
The built media player plays movies / music / photos from either USB or over the network (DLNA).
The tested films (H.264 in MKV and MP4) were played back properly.
When navigating the network folders to the device, a minute of silence begrudge but before many folders / files, but works flawlessly.
Youtube is another option in the menu and offers the usual options such as popular videos, etc.
Interesting here is the option to unlock the TV for his Youtube account (which happens 1x on the computer by typing einens code) and then have full access to its subscriptions and favorites etc. to have.
The operation of the application is relatively slow, the playback of the video, however, works properly and if available in HD.
Overall, I am very satisfied with derm device, but it should always have the latest firmware from the Philips website to be installed, because this brings improvements or fixes bugs.
