Because of all the different reviews on this Canon battery - original or not - I was a bit unsettled. I have, despite some skepticism decided to order this battery, but only directly through Amazon, pronounced "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" and not one of the dealers listed else. What can I say - I was not disappointed. It really concerned the original Canon battery. The Hologram was genuine and not a print. The packaging was multiple splices tightly closed, so that a removal without damaging the packaging would not be possible. In addition, the font is printed clearly on the battery and not blurry. It is therefore no doubt about the right, the original battery by Canon. Further, it fits well without hooks or clamps in the battery compartment of my EOS 600D. True to the motto: a picture is worth a thousand words, I simply times the battery - was just as he arrived at me - photographed and uploaded here so this tiresome debate for original or not finally stops.
Conclusion: When ordering directly via "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" There is no danger of a counterfeit battery.
UPDATE 13/01/13: Aaaaarrrgghh !!!!!! People !!!! Read first and then buy !!!!! A lot of people here just press the button "Add to cart" and wonder that they'll get an inferior battery. Therefore, again in detail: - Look at the price of the batteries. - Let your gaze 3 - Hiking 4 rows down. - If it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com", then you will get a guaranteed original battery. - If it says "Sales through distributors XY" and only "shipped by Amazon.com" you do not get your battery from Amazon, but from traders XY and the risk of a counterfeit battery is huge !!!!! - If it says so "sales through distributors XY" ---> Go to the right in the bar of the dealers listed and "sale by: Amazon.com" out looking. Then everything will be fine.
