Downward reception is then also no longer so good. On the floor underneath barely 350 MBit arrive. Not bad, but definitely not enough.
The description for commissioning as a pure Accespoint does not exist. Through trial and error I managed it. Since the router is assigned a different IP, as provided in the Quick Guide, I strongly recommend to load the appropriate tool from ASUS.
This allows the router instantly find and call the excellent dashboard.
Addendum: I have now tried to release a USB stick via FTP and use ASUS DDNS.
That certainly appears to be operating in repeater mode. The corresponding buttons can not be activated. Is probably because that the Erstrouter not be the appropriate requests from outside through.
