Therefore you can about their quality of course, taken logically exactly only then to say something when she scrapped almost back (for me this usually happens after 3-4 years), at least then when the data security at a hard drive for a top priority has and is the most important aspect! (Which is the case with me!)
The Samsung HDD I can only say: I use such for over 6 years and have only so never suffered a single bit of data loss to this day. You are in my experience, absolutely solid / solid and reliable. Some ran away with me (although they are actually not designed for it) on a 24/7-operation in my Deskop PC for years and have never had any problems. The oldest of them (a SP2504C with 7200rpm and "only" 250 GB capacity) had at the end, when I sent them in retirement, have pronounced scrapped whopping 34,919 hours under his belt and even then still showed no signs of loss of data)
So much for history but, in my experience with Samsung HDDs!
Now for HD204UI: I have now several hard drives of this type and all run perfectly so far (! However, they are also not very long in operation, has the oldest of these about 1.5 years under his belt), most of which are still directly Samsung, the last / most recent that I have recently acquired, according to label after the takeover of Samsung's HDD Business now Seagate and bears some superficial designation ST2000DL004. However Directly below is "Samsung" and "HD204UI". The HDD is externally (housing, back ...) exactly the same as my other "real" HD204UI's from Samsung. She sounds even during commissioning or after waking from sleep mode (short "roar" and then the typical "Knuspergeräusch") as well and has the benchmark the same access time (about 13 ms) and speed (Average: ~ 107 MB seq. Tranferrate
Now, however, will cost approximately 100-110 almost double what I had to cough up until shortly before the floods even at the last (then about 66) and - much worse - the warranty period of time was 36 (Samsung) to now only shortened brazen 12 months, which can unfortunately not bode well (who has confidence in the quality of its products, does not have to reduce their warranty period drastically, right ?!)
For this reason, I give the HDD (because I trust still on the solid and reliable, good old Samsung quality with which I have as I said collected over the past 6 years exclusively good experiences) with reservation 4 stars!
If you after a year - if my warranty claim is extinguished - is defective, I will amend this review and, if necessary, according to reassess!
A few additional important supplemental information about this HDD: There are copies in my Although slight differences, what the smoothness (vibration, noise Access / volume ..) As (series dispersion) but this fall from low. Overall, this hard drive is very quiet for HDD conditions / unobtrusive in operation, and also with their uncritical 5400rpm / harmless. With respect to the temperature development, at least in a location with adequate ventilation In Caddies my PC, which is cooled by a small 40 mm fan, she is barely warm to the touch even in continuous operation. (The sensor is depending on room / outdoor temperature / year between 29-34 ° C) However, this may change when it operates in an environment without active cooling, where the warm air can not be so easily dissipate. There, they can at most sometimes reach temperatures which are located near the hand test on the verge of "hot"! (A HDD should never exceed for optimal / long life expectancy temperatures between 35 to a maximum of 45 ° C in continuous operation, has as a long-term study by Heise showed so you should take care on behalf of the life / useful life and therefore data security that they is optimally cooled, so that one has long some of it and the risk is minimized loss of data!)
