Range is a bad joke

I had this keyboard for some time in connection with a laptop in use. The keyboard was standing right in front of the laptop and worked perfectly.
Then I switched to a PC and already looking forward to continue to enjoy the flexibility of a cordless keyboard. But I was disappointed. There were dropouts, jumps and delays.
No matter where the PC case I positioned the Unifying receiver, the effect remained always exist.
I can not believe that a few cm wood of the desk can represent such a large barrier.
With an appropriate mouse from Logitech, I experienced the same effect.
