I have now tested with a Nikon D200 with Tamron 18-250 and with a Nikon D90 with said Sigma 18-200. Yes, it provides protection against sunlight. Otherwise, I can say little positive. At 18mm wide angle setting a strong vignetting is noticeable, the corners are even black. After I like to protect my lenses with a filter and the sun visor can be fitted with this type just before the filter, the effect is even more pronounced and you get a nice round vignetting, which is perhaps a nice effect but certainly not what one on each want photo. For wide-angle shots take down the sun visor times quickly goes for said Aufschraubsystem not as fast as one would expect from other patents.
All in all, the sun visor for me a bad buy, luckily there was with the lens anyway a while and this I have in the event that I should even establish a 62mm lens with no wide-angle capability.
