Let's start with the script. Screenplay written by two great masters of French SF, first Alain Damasio, known for his Horde Contrevent or her area of Outside, and, subsequently, Stéphane Beauverger, author of Déchronologue and Chromozone Cycle. I do not hide it, I like these two authors. Yet, I was terribly disappointed with the scenario of Remember Me that ultimately shown no originality by revealing be only a summary of many other movies, TV shows, books, and games in connection with the SF. Indeed, early in the game, it turns out that many ideas come from the world of SF and it spoils all the fun of playing since we are not in a new universe, but in a mixture of different worlds already known, there is nothing more irritating, especially since he could be here only small winks, references, but no, there is nothing subtle, everything is so big imagine it as a nod would cloud the issue. Some interesting ideas drowned in a flood of déjà vu. Do not forget that the script offers, like the characters, no depth, it is empty, almost sanitized (outside of course one or two passages) and thus very little interest. The only thing that comes out a bit of the lot is the visually imagined New Paris and screenplay by developers, he really shows splendid.
Unfortunately, even that may not really be exploited as Remember Me is a linear linearity if that exploration is impossible. So do not expect to do some sightseeing, it's not worth it, this possibility is not given, we have many you wonder why. On top of that, the gameplay is a real horror. The combat system, supposed to be the centerpiece of the game, based on a combo system, itself based on a key to the side. Except that it lacks a lot of intuitive and combos break fairly regularly since I must spend time to dodge the shots and it tends to completely break the rhythm of the confrontation. Finally, we spend more time getting excited than anything. In addition, an important element of the game, the Memory Remix that involves manipulating people's memory for their souvenirs and remove modify others should, in my view, be free and appear more often.
However, even if the set is rather poor, the game has some qualities. First, it is visually quite successful. It's not a graphical revolution of course, besides, the animations are dated and technically it is limited, but the graphic is very interesting and truly deserved to be developed, but here, we preferred to it a completely linear game. Then, at times, the script manages to captivate us, but it is very rarely and often short durations. Finally, the lifetime, only 10 or 12 hours, enough to quickly finish the game and move on.
I would just like to clarify that I have no pleasure to criticize a play. Especially here, it is a French game that daring and try something. But lack of time, means, or whatever, the game is sloppy and missed, so it seems fair to say.
