Special feature: This machine does not use as usual preset equalizer curves (tone pattern as Flat, Beat, Pop, Clear). Here the treble, mid and bass can be readjusted separately. A clock with timer (alarm) is also included.
The highs and mids are produced by 2 full-range loudspeakers (8 cm) and can of "-5" to "0" to "+5" adjusted in 10 steps. To ensure crisp bass 2 Subwoofer (13 cm), the (minimum) to "6" (maximum) can be adjusted from "1". Even at level 1 of the bass is clearly perceptible.
In mains operation the white backlit display can be dimmed via remote 1step, which is very pleasant in some dark places (in battery mode, the display stays dark). The radio with "Radio Data System" (RDS) in addition to an outdoor FM antenna (75 ohms) can be connected. In addition, up to 30 FM and 15 medium wave stations are stored.
In order for the clock display, sound settings and the preset radio stations will not be lost after power off, two R06 batteries can be used as a buffer.
In addition to audio CDs and CD-R / RW and DVD-R / RW discs can be used. On the media formats are only MP3 (128-320 Kbit / s), WMA (128-192 Kbit / s) and WAV (44.1 kHz 16-bit) support. ID3 tags (artist and title information) of version 1 are detected by the device. ID3 tags Version 2 may be shortened or the display will be truncated when artist or track name should be somewhat longer.

I have heard several sample portable CD systems and compared their equipment with the device reviewed here. The JVC RD-Ha3b was ultimately my choice - what sound quality and concerns! :)
