For shaving cream itself: the smell is typical of the Nivea Men range and thus has a harsher note as the Nivea Men Sensitive. For me personally, there is the rather sensitive variant, both of which are really pleasant and smell good.
The foam is relatively fixed, and it spreads easily and evenly on the face. The shave is really fine and the skin is not irritated by the foam. However, I found my skin after using the products of Men "Mild" series drier than when I use the products of the "Sensitive" series.
But what is the big difference to the gel for me, is that the foam at long whiskers even with intense rubbing not as good goes between the skin and hair. Because the gel foams really only on the wet skin, it raises the hairs on even better and makes shaving easier and more thorough. With cheap shaving foams the difference to a good gel is much more evident.
CONCLUSION: Those who favor foam over gel out of habit or principle which gets a good shaving cream here. But I personally prefer to stay when shaving and favor the "Sensitive" series about the "Mild".
