For my bike I wanted to buy a good bike computer. After I had the new Garmin Edge 800 tried, I realized that this indeed is very expensive but not very functional Abel. In sunlight rather poor readability. In addition, the navigation unfortunately never been to a track start successfully. But definitely too expensive. But beautiful bike computer functions. Then tried combination. On the one hand GPS device for navigation and other hand cycling computer. GPS devices I've tried: Garmin Dakota 20 and Garmin Oregon 450. Both large and heavy with my view inadequate navigation. Bike computer I have angetestet: Sigma ROX 9 and Bryton (Ciclosport) Rider 30th Sigma ROX 9 I found really bad, cheap sensor attachments, had something of quality children's bike. Display somehow well. Bryton Rider 30 would have liked well, but the attachment to the bike mount is totally unsuitable because the pivot point is not centered but top sits. So you press the button on the right bottom of the device, then pushes you back the unit halfway out of the holder. Too Bad.
The Garmin Edge 500, I am very satisfied from the outset, have to heart rate and speed sensor. The unit is beautifully small and lightweight and very reliable. Has really all I need. With the "small" battery life I have no problems, because I always have an outlet nearby.
Yesterday I first tried to reproduce long a track. The can of Edge 500, he only shows a map of the underground. But the contrast is very good. Black Track on gray background. Very easy to read even in bright sunlight. Have a couple of times procedural me briefly, but he immediately showed a track deviation and I was back in no time on the route.
I am the one hand, a track worn, on the other hand he has recorded my way completely.
When cycling I can so far without maps. am thrilled. Because of better optics way, I have brought me the version in black. Better suits my bike as the blue version.
Incidentally, I have 2 bikes set on the unit and use it even further while jogging, as it weighs almost nothing.
