I have the adapter in a Polo V BJ built 2011 without any problems with the CAN bus. My car dealers had a CAN bus adapter for 150 recommended me, because there could be various electronic problems otherwise. Since he could not deliver the adapter, I decided to try it with a simple adapter. The installation was not a problem, connect the supplied cable to the adapter as directed - works. Somewhat more difficult it is, however, if you want to turn on the radio (Sony CDX-GT 424U) on the ignition, then you have to lay an additional cable-connected via the ignition. According to various forums should this best be tapped at the fuse box and lay behind the dashboard. Anyone who does not trust the, the cable can also have it collected by a workshop, probably still significantly cheaper than variant with the Can-bus adapter. So I have to turn the radio off manually each respectively. The advantage is that I can hear without key radio also, the disadvantage you forget to turn off, the battery is quickly empty times. In addition, you need to hire another Fakra Antenna Adapter (with this I am, however, less satisfied) and a DIN installation frame.
Conclusion: Low-cost alternative, simple installation (at least for my connection variant, after about 6 weeks so far I could not notice any problems.
